During the LEED energy modeling process of our floors, we discovered a new second chiller might not be
needed as originally thought. With further investigation, we determined an Energy Recovery Unit and
upgrades to the existing systems could meet the design loads and provide energy cost savings year
after year. In fact, the savings realized from this process were used to upgrade the pneumatic
control system to a Direct Digital Control system, improving our employees’ thermal comfort. Without going LEED,
these alternatives may not have come to light.
